This is typically the first step in analyzing the data from an assessment. Be sure to understand some important vocabulary before reading too much into the data.

Facilitation Questions

How do our district scores compare to those of BOCES and Western New York?

Which standards and/or performance indicators are of greatest concern to you?

When making changes in instruction, does it make more sense to address the largest gaps or the smallest gaps first? Which gaps would be the most manageable?

What additional student performance data do you have that supports or contradicts the results from the state assessment? How do you explain these differences?

When looking at specific assessment items (looking at the actual test), are there patterns or trends in content or structure that make themselves apparent?
